Youtube Shorts Destroyer

Chrome Extension

In the spring of 2023, I created a google chrome extension!s The extension would ban youtube shorts from your computer, playing any shorts content in the regular youtube player to prevent the user from doom scrolling

I created this extension after I noticed shorts were always played with the url "youtube.com/shorts/*videocode*

The extension would check the url request as it was made and it would replace "youtube.com/shorts/..." with "youtube.com/..." to force the short into a regular video player.
